Like millions of homeowners, we found ourselves in a strange position in 2025: we loved our low mortgage rate, but our family’s needs were changing. We felt trapped by “golden handcuffs”—a 2.75% interest rate that was impossible to walk away from, yet a growing need to find our next home.

The traditional real estate market had no answer. It only knew how to sell a house, not how to value the incredible financial asset that was our mortgage. We knew there had to be a smarter way. We realized we shouldn’t just be selling our house; we should be handing off our mortgage to a savvy buyer who understood its immense long-term value.

From that realization, MortgageHandoff.com was born.

Our mission is twofold, evolving as our journey progresses:

  1. The Case Study (Phase 1): Initially, this site is the live, transparent case study of our own “mortgage handoff.” We are using this platform to market our Kingwood, TX home and its 2.75% assumable mortgage directly to long-term thinkers and investors, documenting the process along the way.
  2. The Resource Hub (Phase 2): After the successful sale of our home, this site will grow into the premier resource hub for creative home financing.
